The MIP SDK documentation is your entrance to the Milestone Integration Platform (MIP) Software Development Kit (SDK); this is where you find inspiration and solutions for your specific development tasks.

The Milestone Integration Platform enables fast and flexible integration between Milestone XProtect video management software, applications available from Milestone Technology Partner Finder, and other third-party applications and devices.

This documentation describes a number of solution scenarios as well as a wide range of methods to use when implementing a solution. Using the MIP SDK, developers are able to perform actions—ranging from simple ones, such as straightforward exchanges of alerts, to more complex ones, such as complete integration of databases. With these actions, developers can create powerful solutions that meet the diverse needs of customers and greatly expand the potential of the video management systems.

To provide maximum flexibility and allow optimal integration of different types of systems and applications, the Milestone Integration Platform offers three main integration options:

Protocol Integration: A basic integration method particularly suited for integration of applications running in non-Windows environments.
Component Integration: Lets you integrate MIP components into your application, which is useful when you want to use libraries provided by Milestone in your Windows-based application.
Plug-in Integration: The most refined integration method. This allows you to embed your plug-in in the Milestone XProtect Management environment, and run your plug-in as an integrated part of the XProtect software and its client applications.
